Women’s Formal Dresses

Any party would be incomplete without an appropriate dress code. Especially a formal party where there is a specific dress code. You can carry just about anything in an informal party but try doing that in a formal party and you will stick out like a sore thumb. The good part about being a woman is that we have a wide array to choose from when it comes to womens formal dresses unlike men.

The color black has always been a favorite with every woman whenever it comes to dressing up for a formal evening however most of us like to experiment with different colors. It also depends on the occasion for which we dress up. If it’s a prom dress then the first color which comes on our mind is pink or hot pink however white, red, purple and black also make regular appearances at proms. The best fabric for a prom is usually satin. It fits perfectly well on the blossoming figures of young maidens. Girls usually go for a flowing gown which accentuates their figures; however also popular are knee length dresses. When it comes to necklines, the best trend this season is a halter neck or a one shouldered dresses which are a big hit with women all ages. On a formal event like a dinner party or wedding, it is safer to go with darker shades and less make up. A full length gown accentuating your figure is the way to go. Silver or other metallic shades look hot too but don’t overdo with the accessories or you would spoil the entire look.

Hot colors for this season are red, shades of blue and green, nude colors, metallic colors, purple and black. The best bet for fabric this season is polyester, satin, muslin cotton, velvet and silk chiffon. When it comes to cut you can never go wrong with an A line formal cut. The other cuts which are in vogue this season are sheath style cut, the ball gown cut, empire waist gowns, princess style gowns. But the hottest deal on the runway is the mermaid cut or a fishtail cut which flows at thigh length, try to avoid the cut going below your knees though; and if you have the body to carry it off, teamed with the right shade for you, you would be the hottest property in any party. If you have a tall frame a wide shoulder or a square neck would be a pleasant surprise from the halters which every other woman sports in formal wears. The best size is a full length gown however if you have a petite frame you might want to play with the length and try anything lower than your knee or knee length. Shoulder pads are back in vogue too.

One dress which no one can go wrong with is the classic little black dress or LBD as it is fondly called. If you don’t know what to wear for a specific occasion be sure to stick to your LBD and you will still be one of the best dressed people in the party. There is so much you can do when it comes to womens formal dresses, it becomes a boring job to be a man in a formal evening.
